Hello everyone. Happy Independence Day!

One of my favorite holidays here in the USA. I simply adore all the colorful fireworks, the familial atmosphere. And most of all the knowledge that Americans across the nation are gathered to celebrate such wonders as our freedom which our soldiers fight to protect {and died for} daily.

As you go out tonight to celebrate, be it drinking with buddies, a family night of fireworks and carnivals, or a simple family picnic, please stay safe and enjoy your time with family and friends. Also, don’t forget to thank our veterans and our soldiers still fighting. Remember they sacrificed time with their families to protect our freedom so we could have this day of festivities.

4th of July

Sorry, I’ve gone quiet again lately. To be honest, I’ve been working hard on book two of my Caspian series.

This one doesn’t have an official title yet., so, for now I’m calling it Ean’s Story.

Don’t worry you will see Kaitlin and Cadmon and all the rest {minus the dead ones} again. But, this will be Ean and his ex girlfriend’s story. Many fun twists are planned for this one. I’m currently fleshing out chapter two, while I fill in some plot holes in the plot treatment.

So, who wants a little teaser, hm?

Excerpt:

Ean’s gaze fell to all the files scattered on the floor. He dropped back into the chair with a heavy sigh, rubbing his temples in an attempt to ward off the impending headache. The sweet aroma of cinnamon filled his nostrils. His shoulder tension eased as he closed his eyes, allowing the scent to transport him back to better days.

Melted chocolate colored eyes stared up at him as she swept a long stray lock of midnight hair that had blown loose from her braid out of her face and tucked it behind her ear. Her teeth flashed in the sunlight as she sent him the sweetest smile that could melt a man’s heart, laying out on the grass in nothing but her banana-yellow bikini which contrasted with the green carpet of grass.

Cassidy.

What he wouldn’t give to actually wrap his arms around her and taste her honeyed kiss once more. How he wished she wasn’t gone.

Writers, what have you worked on lately? Readers, how do you celebrate the 4th?

Catrina Barton is a licensed Kung-Fu Instructor of the Black Dragon style, and draws on that experience to make her fight scenes both realistic and action packed. She enjoys being surrounded by the stark beauty of mother nature. Whether it's a moon-lit starry sky, or a picnic by a peaceful waterfall cascading from the mountain side. Growing up no matter where she was physically, she always had at least one book in her hands and spent every free moment lost in a book. It's only natural that as she grew up, her passion for reading grew into an even stronger passion for writing, especially Young Adult Paranormal Romances. She is a proud member of many writing and marketing groups, and an active participant at Critique Circle and several other crit groups. Favorite personal quote: "An author cannot grow without both constructive criticism and encouragement."
