My Review:
In the spirit of full disclosure I received this free e-book as a prize during the release party. Ares has always been my favorite of the Greek Gods legends. I’ve always liked a man who knows how to fight. So, when I read Ares was in the description I chose this book. I adore how Aphrodite handles Ares in this book. Ares and Aphrodite’s love quarrel was cute. Their cat and mouse game was highly entertaining.
Rebecca and Robert have history together, but nothing of a romantic history. I adored the way they remembered each other and their interactions with each other are sweet. I enjoyed the fast paced plot and watching the characters play off one another. I’m glad that Robert and Rebecca found each other again.
The characters felt real, the plot was entertaining. Over all I enjoyed this book a lot and look forward to reading the next one.

Lastly, on a personal note. I’ve enjoyed spending a lot of time catching up with my Marine BFF. He’s a true inspiration to me. Sarge, as I’ll refer to him here, is awesome and has recently gotten back into writing. Yay! I adore reading his works. That’s a;ways a treat for me and his other readers. I won’t get into details of what we discuss because that’s for me and him, ya know? Conversations between me and my friends are confidential. Always.
Anyway Sarge helped with some research so I can ensure my little facts in my novels are accurate. One of many reasons we get along so well is that we both love to help each other keep things accurate. He’s a true blessing in my life and I’m so happy to have him home this year. Not looking forward to next year when he’s deployed again. But, he’s a Marine and deployment is part of his life style. All I can do is pray for his safety, like I did last year, and enjoy our time together while he’s home.

Isn’t that a beautiful cover? I absolutely fell in love with her Immortallis series. Alyssa is a fiery little thing and Lysander is her calm wise hero. The first four books follow Alyssa’s journey as she learns to adjust to life as a vampire, earns her place in the coven, and many new adventures.
This lovely addition is a stand-a-lone companion novella to her Immortallis series and is very special to me. As those who follow Katie’s blog will recall I won her “Become A Character Contest.” She sent me a questionnaire, which I answered, and that’s how Kitara {the love interest in Dark Salvation} was created. I’m very pleased with how things turned out. Katie crafted Kitara exactly as I envisioned her while answering the questions. It’s uncanny.
Nicholas {the main character} is such a snarky, but adorable character. The way Kitara and Nicholas play off each other is highly amusing and volatile. I chose this excerpt so you could see for yourself.
Excerpt:
“You really don’t care about human life, do you?” Though her heart pounded erratically with fear, there was none in her angry voice.
“Nope.” Nicholas was not about to get into a morality war with this woman. He pulled out the dead man’s wallet and tossed it aside. “Nothing good here.”
“You’re an asshole, you know that?”
He’d been called that by so many people, but somehow hearing her say it struck a chord with him. “I’ve been called worse.” He tried to sound as if he didn’t care, but for some strange reason, he did. He opened his mouth to say something, but found the words escaped him. Humans never understood. Perhaps it was better off she thought him a jerk.
“I can’t believe you. Human life has to hold some meaning.”
“It does. If humans weren’t around, I’d have to eat animals.”
“You’re nothing but a monster, just like Jeremy said.”
That hurt. He had saved her life, and she hated him for it. He turned on her, anger setting his heart pounding. How dare she talk this way to him after he’d saved her? “He would have killed you without a second thought. That’s what the Saints do. They are the real monsters, not me.”
Perhaps it was his suddenly sharp tone, or maybe she realized he was telling the truth; whatever it was, Kitara paused. He heard her take a deep breath. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that. You did save me. I’ve… I’ve just never witnessed a murder.” Her body was still trembling, and her heart thumped so erratically that he wondered if she might pass out. The tang of her fear wafted up to his nose. “You tore that guy’s throat out, in front of me. You killed him. You drank his blood.”
Nicholas attempted to temper the anger in his voice with patience in the hopes of getting her to relax. “Vampires drink blood, sweetheart.”
