Happy New Year - champagne and party decoration

It’s another year over! Can you believe it? Well we authors, readers, and bloggers sure can’t. To celebrate the New Year with bang, we’re going crazy and sending out so many prizes, fun parties, experiences, and other goodies, that it’s a bit scary. Each author has a favorite New Year memory, book, idea, or way to party, and we’re going to show you! Can’t wait to see you January 1st – 6th!

My favorite New Year activity, is spending the night watching family movies with hubby and our kids.  Hubby and I aren’t fans of alcohol, so we settle for sparkling white grape juice and cheese crackers with the kids.

I’m offering an in depth first chapter critique to one lucky commenter. Be sure to leave your preferred email address to be entered for the grand prizes.

Trees competed for space. Creeping vines and various plants crowded them as if trying to strangle the towering giants. In the canopy, birds flew to and fro making their nests and feeding their young. The sun shined down, warming his skin with an affectionate glow as if welcoming him home.The worries of the past five years melted away. He trapped the fresh air and held it in his lungs, afraid to let it go. It’d been far too long since he’d returned. Throughout his travels to different lands, no place called to his soul like his homelands.

Cadmon smiled as the foliage sprang to life with movement. Several small animals darted in and out of their homes. Orangutans swung through the vines, even their hoots and the proboscis monkeys’ screeching sounds of play was music to his ears. The abundance of wildlife, and fresh water were only part of the reason he’d chosen this spot for his cabin.

    As I sit here, my husband is working on what we want to do this year…take a real family vacation. We have been married for 15 years and haven’t taken the kids anywhere. Many reasons why, but this year, we are changing that. Looking for a pet friendly cabin for a week’s vacation. We will do it.

    Hubby and I stayed at home this year too, we had a nice evening with the fire place going, I had a glass of wine – he doesn’t drink (sober for 20 yrs) and about 8:30 hubby wanted to watch Batman Rising. It ended just in time before the New Year for our New Year Kiss, which by the way was interupted by our 3 big dogs who jumped up on the couch with us – LOL They were scared from the loud noises coming from the fireworks going off outside – LOL It was funny but was all good, we just laughed and realized how much love we have in our lives.

      Hi Dione,
      that’s a lot of books! I finally managed to reach my goal of one hundred books read and reviewed on Goodreads last year, just before it finished. This year I’m going to have to cut back some, so I can get my novels revised and published. I have dozens of them started, half finished, or waiting to be written out, and one that needs completely re-written, all waiting for some TLC and blood, sweat, and tears.
