I have submitted my files for review at Createspace. Let’s hope this one is the charm, eh?
It’s supposed to take 48 hours to hear back from them. Then, if all goes as planned, I have to order a new proof copy and wait 2-3 weeks for it to arrive. At this rate the silly Preview Paperback copy will be available, shortly before the planned launch of the full novel, lol.
I have however, learned to give myself plenty of leeway for my next paperback book. I’ll make certain to schedule it for say 2-3 months after the digital release? If all goes well, I may yet get them closer to the same date. We shall wait and see.
Unfortunately the heat and humidity combo has me suffering from heat exhaustion, again…
On the plus side, I’ve managed to catch up on several crits owed to the wonderful people at CC. So that makes me feel a little better. I’ve begun an in depth crit for another writer from one of my writing groups tonight, so at least I’m still working. Not on my novel for the time being, but it’s still working.
It’s my hope that once I’ve finished this in depth crit, and the prize winners’ {from the #SummerHop} first chapter critiques, that I will focus solely on completing my current MS, which has started the next round of crits at CC and my other crit groups. Feedback has been positive, so that’s a relief.
For those wondering why my Preview doesn’t show up anywhere but Amazon US and UK right now, KDP select requires an exclusivity contract. Meaning that the digital version can only be sold through Amazon for the remainder of the current contract. {Which concludes the end of September} I can still sell the paperback version anywhere I like, so it’s not all bad. I figure come Sept, we will see how things fare and I’ll decide whether or not to renew said contract.
A friendly warning to all aspiring writers out there, and all published writers consider the KDP Select program: Be careful to read all of the fine print before you sign on for anything.
How is your current writing project progressing? Have you done any critiquing lately? Have you ever signed an exclusivity contract? What are your experiences with the KDP Select program? Good? Bad? Don’t be shy. We’re all here to learn.
